I had the pleasure of viewing an extra long presentation of LinkedIn’s corporate recruiting solution. The presentation started of with the basics of LinkedIn and how it began which wasn’t all that new to me since I use Linkedin but for other novice users in the room it may have been informative.
The meat of the presentation was to sell us on the recruiter product. This product is license by user and allows different users to peruse the entire database of users. If you are limited on connections this is a viable solution for you. As companies move recruiting inside and create a competency for this the solution can be a no brainer. However, if you have a lot of connections then this may not be for you.
I ran the same searches with the LinkedIn account rep in my account. We were searching for specific candidates per the requirements of one of our hiring managers. I found that I had over 90% of the results as the LinkedIn recruiter solution. The results may be a bit tainted since I live in the market and inside the industry that we were searching in. So for me this is not of value since I can see so many contacts via connections or groups. You can read on how to get more LinkedIn contacts here.
So if you are looking to buy LinkedIn Recruiter for your own company and industry it may not be worth the investment. If you are a recruiter in many industries, then this may be good for you after you evaluate the investment.
